Tod’s Point Engagement | Catherine & Ryan

Engagement

Have you ever met two people, and quickly realized, “OK, this makes SENSE.” From the moment I met Catherine (Kate) and Ryan for their wedding photography consultation, it was like chatting with two old friends. It turns out, they found me through two other familiar faces: Jackie and Alex! (Remember their gorgeous Lounsbury House wedding last year?!) The more we got to know each other, the more we realized we had in common. We decided to do their engagement photos at Tod’s Point in Greenwich, CT, which is AMAZING in the off-season.

Catherine and Ryan got engaged in October of 2017 at their favorite hiking spot, Bash Bish Falls in the Massachusetts section of the Berkshires. As many of you know, this particular location is near and dear to my own heart, as I grew up going to nearby Camp HiRock in Mt. Washington, MA (just a couple of miles up the road). When the two set out for their hike, Ryan showed no signs of proposing at the falls. However, when Catherine least expected it, Ryan got down on one knee and proposed! Of course, Catherine said yes. However, when she tried to notify her friends and family, not many people picked up the phone. It turns out that when she and Ryan arrived back home, their friends and family were waiting to surprise her! People had flown into town, driven long distances, and had planned for weeks to be there. It is a true testament to their love that their loved ones support them so much as a couple.

For their engagement portraits, Catherine and I had been going back and forth on whether to cancel due to the weather. I knew that this would not be the brightest day, but I also knew that these two would make my job easy. We decided to stick with our scheduled session, and even through POURING RAIN, we had a wonderful time at Tod’s Point. Guys, I can’t wait to photograph your wedding, and get to know all of those people who traveled near and far to surprise you on your proposal day. For now, I hope you enjoy some of my favorite images from that wonderfully rainy day!

Such a good idea to bring champagne, which warmed everything up on that cold and rainy day!
