My favorite thing about being a photographer is meeting wonderful people and then being able to turn around and give them something to cherish for years to come. I can honestly say that I am a better person for knowing them, for learning their stories, and for being present for their greatest of days. Before meeting Emily, I never knew the power of Instagram until she contacted me. It turns out that she found me on there; who knew that all those little posts would make someone pause?! Since the first time we met, we clicked instantly, and I knew she would turn into a bride that’s also a lifelong friend. I will be photographing her and Alex’s wedding next year, and was able to meet them for a beautiful and historic Burr Homestead engagement session in Fairfield. It was a wonderful quiet spot filled with beautiful greenery, trees and vines, and picturesque old gardens.
Emily and Alex’s story was love by happenstance; they met after Alex’s return home from serving a year and a half overseas as a military police officer. Emily had been finishing up her nursing degree and they instantly clicked on their first date at Grey Goose in Southport. It’s not hard to see why, because they both exude the most caring attitude for everyone around them. It’s such an awesome trait to have in common! For their surprise engagement, Alex booked a table back at Grey Goose where they had their first date years before. When Emily opened her menu, Alex’s handwriting appeared asking her to spend the rest of her life with him. It was the perfect way to ask her to share life’s journeys, and of course she said, “yes!”
I am so excited to photograph their June wedding at Gallaher Mansion, but in the meantime, here’s a few of these two love birds to make your day.
Isn’t Scout just THE CUTEST EVER?!
